Commentaries and Notes

I remember when I started Swagger 360 and someone asked me what was the point. They asked if I was simply going to take photos of strangers and if so for what... Some 16 months later the answer is the same - I'm capturing a lifestyle, a belief that style is greater than fashion.

Todays' post is simple - it's photos selected by a Chinese magazine that recently appeared in print (and it was the first all Black Street Style feature to appear in a Chinese magazine... 11 solo pages)

As the year ends, I thank all those who have allowed me to take their photos as well as all those who have followed the site.

Swagger 360 has gone from Brooklyn NY to main stream America to Toronto Canada to China. Bottom line... We're worldwide and 2010 is going to be even better.

  2. Style in universal and most people don't just wear clothes to disappear into the background, they want to be noticed. People know real style when they see it and look elsewhere for inspiration.

I too was surprised to see my own work to be all over the world. That's what makes technology so great, you can have what you want in an instant. Magazines are not showing the diversity and style of all of humanity and that's why blogs are becoming the new messengers of style.

We're not afraid to show multi-ethnicity like they are. Blogs are becoming quite influential and as long as we have the readers we can make a nobody into a somebody that everyone wants to know about. And only then will the media take an interest to these individuals when there is a "buzz" as if they were the ones who did it in the first place.

We fill a void when people crave something different. Magazines have this idea that we're so enamored with the "so called" style of celebrity's, so they feed us a steady diet of them. Not me, I'd rather see clothing from the runway to realty any day of the week that's worn by real people who actually buy the clothes rather then borrow them.

Keep on doing what you're doing, you've got a great Blog. I can't let a Saturday go by without checking out Bill Cunningham's "On The Street" photographs, now I can visit this one and others to check out the latest in personal style.
